Why is it that when so many people reach the status of senior citizens, they have people constantly attempting to place rules and restrictions on them as though they have become children again? I am not talking about aging adults with Alzheimer's or Dementia or any other type of cognitive impairments. I am specifically referring to seniors who are perfectly capable, fully maintain their cognitive abilities, and who are able to function independently. I am also not talking about things like removing their driving privileges due to failing eyesight or similar. I am referring to the incidence of active independent senior adults having child-like rules placed upon their behaviors and having their right to make decisions stripped away from them (usually by their adult children who do not want to take any responsibility for them but are waiting for an inheritance of some kind). It is sad and disgusting to me. Imagine being an older adult in this position and realizing that the only real concern that your own children have for you is what they are going to end up with monetarily when you die. Although, I do not and will not have any children of my own, I promise this: As long as I remain with all (or most) of my faculties in place, I will never allow anyone to artificially and arbitrarily place rules upon my life that are not already placed upon me now... such as legal requirements. Anyone who tries this with me will end up with a walker placed securely in your rectum!
