RACISM IN AMERICA

Is there any real moral difference between Nazi Germany and the owning and torturing of slaves by early Americans? Fundamentally, the only difference that I can see is that the Americans needed their slaves to work on their plantations and therefore decided it was better not to exterminate them all in order to achieve that end. However, were those plantations that much different that a Nazi concentration camp? As far as I am aware, the plantation owners were not in the habit of performing medical experiments on the slaves.... beyond that, I fail to see significant differences in treatment or attitude towards the enslaved in either situation. Let us not forget that the US government did, in fact, routinely engage in similar crude medical experiments on the undesirables of society and were very influential on the Germans in that arena. My point here is that, for any American who thinks that the brutal history of Germany is so terrible and outrageous compared to the history in America, I urge you to go back to the library and study the comparative histories. Then come back and offer your insights on how America stands on some type of moral high ground compared to Germany or any other country for that matter.
